2012 Ssamzie Sound Festival Auditions : Indie Rock & Indie Pop Edition

After starting with a few acoustic acts we continue to look at some of the more indie pop and indie rock oriented bands auditioning to be one of Ssamzie Sound Festival’s Hidden Masters. With a dal music account you can vote for your favorites until Wednesday, September 12th

 

Toll


Modern rock band Toll formed in 2006 and released first EP Dot a couple of years later. The band went on a hiatus when the members headed off for military service, but reunited in 2011 and released digital single See The Light. After adding a member responsible for video, the band is now a quintet. YouTube.

Cranfield


Starting out as a cover band in Busan, the britpop influenced Cranfield relocated to Seoul in 2011. The band’s first EP 밤의 악대 was self-released in May this year. Currently Cranfield are performing with their own songs in their new hometown. Facebook.

Ondahl


Led by producer and former Nastyona guitarist Hojin Lee, pop/rock trio Ondahl released their first EP in the end of 2011. A single followed in the beginning of this year with the band’s first full-length album released in the end of August. Facebook. Twitter. Bandcamp.

Rock’N’Roll Radio


In 2009 there was a band called Go Go Beat, but after a few member changes it has instead transformed into Rock’N’Roll Radio still maintaining their go-go beats. The band auditioned for Top Band 2 where they were eliminated in favor of Gogoboys during the Triple Tournaments. Rock’N’Roll Radio hope to release a single before the end of the year. Facebook. 21c peterpans

The four members of 21c peterpans hail from Jeju, Anyang and Gumi. The band formed in 2011 and entered the audition offering “rock with a modern feeling”. Their currently trying to play shows regularly while also preparing to release their first EP. Facebook.

Life On

Rock band Life On formed in November 2010 and proceeded to start gigging around Hongdae in December the same year. In August 2011 they released their first mini album Distance.

The Stray


Modern rock/pop band The Stray formed in 2011 and recruited their female vocalist in March this year. They released a demo album in May for the HyundaiCard flea market and were up for Hello Rookie in August this year. Now they want to release a proper EP and are hoping to get into a good label.

Tell & Listen


Indie pop band Tell & Listen formed in 2011 and adopted their current name in February this year. With ‘memories’ as their main motif, Tell & Listen are planning to release their first EP 추억을 말하고 현실을 듣다 this year. Facebook. Twitter.
