Korea’s national music chart Gaon published the charts for February today. Here’s a look at how the local indie music managed during the month.

Gaon Korean Album Chart

January proved to be a relatively good month for Korean indie albums sales, but the same unfortunately can’t be said of the Korean album chart for February where only Mot‘s long-awaited 3rd full-length album, released February 18, sold enough to get listed.

The albums that did appear on the album chart during the month, but didn’t sell enough to qualify for the monthly chart of February (i.e. less than 445 copies) were the following:

After a year of monthly digital singles, Mystery Curtain presented her 3rd full-length album 수상한 커튼의 1년 on CD on February 12th. The same week Earip had the CD version of her 5th album 망명 (Exile). Another couple of albums have been spotted on the same chart in recent months. And then–the sure sign of spring it has become–Busker Busker‘s 2012 debut album. has made a return

Gaon Korean Digital Chart

Gaon’s digital chart combines the results of Gaon’s download, streaming and background music charts. Few indie songs make the joint chart, but all new songs to enter any of the related charts are added to Indieful ROK’s Gaon Digital 2016 YouTube playlist.

While tvN drama Cheese In The Trap (치즈 인 더 트랩) was the drama contributing more songs to the digital chart during the month of January, for February it is tvN drama Signal (시그널) that offers more new entries from both Jaurim‘s Kim Yuna and Jang Beom June of Busker Busker fame.

Additionally, The Black Skirt‘s “Everything“, Vanilla Acoustic‘s “I Do Again”, and Sweden Laundry‘s “조금만 더” appeared on the weekly digital chart during the month of February.

Gaon Korean Download Chart

After entering Gaon’s Korean download chart in January in spite of not being released until January 30th, Jang Beom June’s Sanullim cover for the Signal OST climbed enough to become the highest ranking Korean indie song during the month of February.

In addition to the songs above, also The Black Skirt’s “Everything”, Vanilla Acoustic’s “I Do Again”, Jeong Cha Sik‘s “나는 너를”, and Sweden Laundry’s “조금만 더” appeared on Gaon’s weekly Korean download chart during February.

Gaon Korean Streaming Chart

The Korean streaming chart for February contained all of the same indie songs as the overall digital and download charts, save for the Kim Yuna song which was only released towards the end of the month.

In addition to the songs above, also The Black Skirts’ “Everything”, Sweden Laundry’s “조금만 더”, and Kim Yuna’s “길” appeared on Gaon’s weekly streaming chart during the month of February.

Gaon BGM Chart

Gaon’s background music chart for February had unusually much in common with the other online charts. While otherwise just making appearances on the weekly chart, Jeong Cha Sik’s song for the Signal OST managed to place on the monthly BGM chart.

Additionally, Vanilla Acoustic’s “I do again”, Busker Busker’s “벚꽃 엔딩”, Sweden Laundry’s “조금만 더”, and the piano version of Kim Yuna’s 12 year’s old song “봄이 오면” appeared on the weekly BGM chart during February.

Gaon Mobile Chart

February was the start of the season for Busker Busker’s “벚꽃 엔딩”. It showed up on the last weekly BGM chart of February and almost broke into the top 100 for the other digital charts, but it already made it all the way to the mobile charts for the entire month.

Additionally Okdal‘s “수고했어, 오늘도” and the recently released Sung Si Kyung cover “두 사람”, Acourve‘s “하고 싶은 말” and “고백”, The Black Skirts’ “Everything”, 10cm‘s “스토커”, Sweden Laundry’s “조금만 더”, and Nell‘s “기억을 걷는 시간“–both from Nell’s 6th full-length album and Separation Anxiety–appeared on the weekly mobile charts during January.

Gaon Korean Noraebang Chart

The Korean noraebang chart for February contained all the same indie songs as during January, in the same order albeit with slightly different rankings.
