Music Alliance Pact : Open Call for 50th Edition Submissions

In 2008, Scottish music blog The Pop Cop invited eleven other region specific music blogs to participate in what is now known as the Music Alliance Pact (MAP). The idea was that each blogger would hand pick a song from the country he or she represented, and the complete collection of free & legal mp3s would then be posted on all the blogs in the pact on the same day. The first ever MAP post saw the light of the day on October 15th 2008 and four years later the pact has grown to include almost 40 countries, covering all 6 inhabited continents of the planet.

The pact now reaches several hundred thousand music lovers all over the planet through well respected blogs such as the music blog of major UK newspaper The Guardian and Nialler9 – five times awarded Best Irish Music Blog. Indieful ROK joined MAP as a representative for South Korea in time for the third edition and as of January this year Korean Indie holds the responsibility of showing the world the very best of what Korea has to offer.

Many of today’s most popular indie acts have been MAP representatives in the past, most while they were still barely known inside of their own country. Notable MAP alumni include Mumford & Sons, The xx, Ólafur Arnalds, Sleigh Bells, Toro Y Moi, Phoenix, Saycet, Fitness Forever, Mocca, The Notwist, Apparat and the list can be made much longer. From the Korean side we’ve introduced songs from The Black Skirts, Apollo 18, Vidulgi OoyoO, Jambinai, Julia Hart, J Rabbit, mukimukimanmansu and many other fantastic bands worthy of world-wide recognition.

Do You Want To Be November’s MAP Artist?

The November edition of Music Alliance Pact this year will be the 50th and for that we want to do something special. All MAP bloggers will seek to post an exclusive song –  something that hasn’t been posted anywhere else, or something has yet to be released, or why not something recorded specifically with MAP in mind?

If you’re a musician from Korea and/or currently living in Korea and the prospect of having your song posted on a multitude of music blogs appeals to you, get in touch! Send your mp3 submission in an email to info@koreanindie.com with “November’s MAP Artist” in the subject before November 1st. We’ll take a good listen to all entries and pick our favorite to represent South Korea in November.
