So Cow on Pitchfork

So Cow - So Cow
The music of Irelander So Cow has been mentioned on this blog previously, when he gave away an EP including a couple of covers on Korean songs. Late March he released a self-titled LP that while (to my best knowledge) not containing any Korean covers does contain a few songs in Korean. Last week one of the tracks from the LP, Halcyon Days, was reviewed by Pitchfork, and yesterday the entire album was awarded 7.7 by another Pitchfork reviewer.

The Korean language tracks are only mentioned briefly as something of a weak spot, though the reviewer objected to the tracks because they didn’t let So Cow’s sharp lyrics shine through. I had sorta hoped those tracks in particular would’ve been embraced to somehow encourage Korean music reviews on Pitchfork (there’s certainly no lack of Korean albums that could do very well if only introduced to a wider audience), but at least this is a start.

Several tracks from the album are available for streaming at the So Cow MySpace.
