Indieful ROK 2.0

The Return of Indieful ROK

Indieful ROK logo

It’s been quite a while since there was last any activity of substance happening here at Indieful ROK, but starting today that should change. After a few years with koreanindie.com I’ve decided to ‘come back home’ and just do my own thing again.

I don’t listen to at all as much music as I once used to. This has been a downward spiraling trend for the last few years–partly caused by getting a husband that has somehow managed to almost monopolize music playing at home, partly because nowadays I feel like when I’m in the office I need to be available to my colleagues and can no longer spend my days with earphones on. I don’t keep up with new music as much as I used to. Mostly because I can’t spare the time anymore, but also because I likely won’t be able to listen to it anyway. I also play far too much Candy Crush Saga.

This re-launch is in no way any attempt at reclaiming Indieful ROK’s previous position as the biggest English language blog dedicated to Korean indie music. There is already koreanindie, Korean rock is real, DoIndie and a plethora of other sites to cover what I was once alone in providing on a regular basis–and doing so better than I could have ever achieved on my own.

Instead I’ll be focusing on the things I’m truly passionate about. Still Korean indie music, of course, but with a few twists here and there. Posts may not be as frequent as they once were and we’ll all have to wait a while to figure out exactly where this is going, but those of you that have missed my online voice will hopefully not be too disappointed. I also hope to be able to collaborate more with others than has been the case until now.

The last couple of weeks I’ve entertained myself setting up this site and for the first time in a long while I feel like I actually want to prioritize blogging again. After going through so many of my old posts I even feel inspired to resurrect some of the old IROK features, with all the links and the charts, but if we’re realistic that’ll have to remain a distant dream for now. The site still needs a bit more fixing and I have another related project ongoing that you’ll hopefully find as exciting as I do once I’m ready to share the details, so please have oversight with all the flaws around here for the time being.

Whether you’re an old or a new reader, thanks for dropping by and taking the time to read this far. Indieful ROK had its 6th anniversary in January this year, but it went by quietly as the blog had already been dormant for a full year. With the return of Indieful ROK and a bit of support from you, there should instead be new cause for celebrations many years to come.
