As you may be aware, the lovely music of Tearliner is very dear to me. Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to meet the man responsible while in Korea since he’s out traveling, but I did get a chance to perform an email interview him a few months ago. Today the resulting article was posted at London Korean Links: Tearliner Revisited.
“Revisited” as in I also interviewed Tearliner for London Korean Links a couple of years ago. Actually I was a bit ashamed of pulling the drama angle (Coffee Prince, Triple) this time when he doesn’t want publicity because of his music director works, but coming to Korea I’ve found that’s the easiest way to explain his awesomeness to others… Let’s hope Happy Robot has the power to change that!

I really don’t blame him for wanting to get away from the drama scene. His music is really wonderful~can’t blame you for being such a hardcore fan.

I actually really liked Coffee Prince, but it could just be that it’s the first drama I’ve watched in many years. And perhaps also because I was more focused on how well the music went with what happened than on what actually happened…
A bit of bonus information on that John ME song (Run): It was written by Jocke Berg from Kent, that once upon a time was my very favorite band.

There’s a version in Swedish as well with almost the opposite lyrics (the scenario is pretty much the same but it’s him needing her instead). When in the mood for depressing music and especially during rainy and/or particularly windy days, I love to keep both versions (and nothing else) on a playlist, lying on my bed in the dark, and listening on repeat for hours.
I think I couldn’t sit through it because it seemed to be just another retelling of 12th Night. And I’ve seen maybe 7 or so variations of that plot already in my life.
I agree that the music was at least different. But egads, I just wasn’t willing to put myself through the story. Of course I know thousands of fans would disagree with me, and I know many people say it’s a ‘cute’ drama.
